T&L Symposium day

Well we did it! The symposium workshop went very well today and participants seemed to be interested in the possibilities of learning technologies for themselves and their students. There were some lights going on around the room, and the difference between blogs and wikis was immediately clear to them once they had used the wiki space. I really hope we get people interested in forming e-technology pods next year.

I propose we have a session next Tuesday to debrief on the session and the whole process, and make a plan for marketing the pods! How about Kreem for coffee at 8am?

Student photo management session today

Today Thom is going to take the students through Flickr or Splashblog to enable them to put photos of their projects up for viewing. It should be good being a little ahead of them on this one!

Technology does not beat me anymore!!

After six failed efforts I finally managed to load a new photo on my blog profile today. The trick in the end was to delete the existing one first, then save, then paste in the new URL from Flickr and then save again!

This technology game really does require persistance, but I am getting more feisty and not accepting 'No' for an answer!!

Great to see some blogger action happening from the Ellerslie Flower Show student teams - blackpavlova and backyardbliss!!

Aug 9th Students on board

Today I am here in our lab with Thom and our Ellerslie Flower Show exhibitors, signing up to new blogs. These will be used for journalling their EFS experience and learning for their Negotiated Study.

As a result of the VET BOS excercise challenging us to move outside the square of course content and create a course focussed on a specific learning task, and clipping necessary content onto acheiving the task.

It is exciting to see the students' enthuiasm for the concept. And even more exciting to see the learning I have done in D2D playing out in my programme.

Week 6

Consolidation again this week. It was really great to have such a fruitful msm discussion with Linda last week, where we managed to teach each other tricks while online.

We have decided to continue using our blogs to record our journeys, and then to develop the wiki we created the other week as the way we will show our group process. Malcolm and Larraine are catching up the bits they have missed

Week 5

Wow - have just had a conversation with Linda on msn and with her help, managed to change my pensonal profile, loaded a photo of myself and then added my kids as contacts and had a conversation with my son about his exams.

This is quite exhilarating! I think making conversation slots in the week is a good way to go, if others are able to. Or maybe we should try a Tuesday morning session from our offices?

Now I am going to try to attach our msn conversation as a record of progress:

Week 4

It was great to start a wiki this week, but time has been against me in getting time to pick it up again . Have just hit the inevitable second visit access problems, so will try again in the lab tomorrow.

Week 3

Hey - after not being able to find my way back into my blog to edit it after last week, and then not being accepted back into Flickr, because I didn't have the right jolly biscuits (cookies) I was feeling a bit of a mess. But as I said to Ray during the week - we mustn't give in!!

I didn't give in, and I feel very confident sitting here at home using Firefox instead of Explorer as my internet launcher, with my five tabs open on my blog, which I have just edited, my Flickr account with three new photos loaded to show my friends, and my Newsgator, which will send me any new postings on my friends blogs or Flickr photo sites.
